Hanafin Welcomes Three New Neighbourhood Playgrounds

Category: Local News

Families in Booterstown and Blackrock will give a warm welcome to the official opening by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council of three new neighbourhood playgrounds. The facilities are located in Carysfort Park, Springhill - Mt. Albany, and in Booterstown at Blackrock Park.

These new facilities are part of the Council's ongoing playground construction programme which has seen the development of 15 new play facilities between 2003 - 2009. These new facilities are in addition to six existing playgrounds which the Council recently refurbished. The playgrounds were funded by development levies, which have helped the Council deliver on its 'Play Policy' by providing play opportunities for children throughout the County which are close to their own neighbourhood.

During her term as Minister for Children Mary Hanafin introduced the policy on children's play as part of the Government's National Children's Strategy.
